PUR Bare It All Foundation
I have a lot of opinions and mixed feelings about the new PUR Bare It All foundation.
The packaging is surprisingly simple and I actually like it a lot, it’s light, compact and easy to travel with. The formula is thick and it reminds me a lot of a K-beauty style CC cream, it’s very pigmented and rich but dries down to a matte, powdery finish. Bare It All claims to be loaded with good-for-your-skin ingredients green tea, ginseng, B-complex and their proprietary Ceretin® Complex and wants to help nourish and repair your skin while you wear it, another feature of K-beauty BB and CC Creams.
The formula is difficult to apply, it’s a very thick paste that needs a good base in order to spread and blend on the skin. I like this and I don’t. It really depends on the day. I found if I prep my skin with a serum, oil and moisturizer I can make it work. I had even better results when I used a primer, especially a silicone based one which I tend to avoid in my day-to-day routine. I found a densely packed foundation brush or fingers make for the best application. You need traction to spread this stuff!
What I love about this foundation is the way it looks on the skin which makes it all worth it. My skin looks flawless, the foundation dries down to a demi matte finish that still manages to have a lovely luminosity to it, it really makes the skin look pretty perfect. The foundation doesn’t feel lightweight on the skin, it’s a little too heavy for my taste but I will reach for it on a special occasion when I need something full coverage and am okay with wearing a heavier product in exchange for flawless looking skin. The product lasts really well on the skin and is a fantastic option for oily skin types… this bad boy won’t budge!
This foundation has a lot of pros and cons and I can see it working for those with oily skin, those that need to cover imperfections, those that want something full coverage and long-lasting and those that can work with the tricky formula in exchange for pretty perfect looking complexion. For me, this is not a product I will reach for every day as I tend to prefer lightweight formulas but for those days when I need and want a flawless complexion (and one that photographs beautifully) I reach for it.
The Bare It All Foundation pairs really nicely with the PUR No Filter primer, but more about it in a soon to follow post.
